Seat 35

22 Apr 2016 – 30 Jun 2016

Wyeside Arts Centre

A red velvet theatre chair. A seat where change could happen unexpectedly, to whoever sits in it. I wanted to evoke the feeling of this world existing on many planes, Different realities.

This is Seat 35.
Seat 35 was once part of a community of seats, looking out on Wyeside’s Market Theatre Stage. It saw films and ballets, comedians, operas, plays. It held people who laughed and cried. For the last twenty years though, Seat 35 has lived on its own in a storage cupboard. In the dark, its dreams have grown.
Seat 35 wants to see the real world.

From April 22nd-24th, Wyeside Inside Out will bring together a spectrum of artists, exploring what it means to be a part of our community. Throughout the festival, our Gallery will be dedicated to the travels of Seat 35.
